FRENCH REFORM 2026-2027 · ODOO APPROVED PLATFORM

French e-invoicing
with Odoo.

France is making e-invoicing mandatory between companies established in France. Since 1 September 2026, all of them must be able to receive electronic invoices, and SMEs will have to issue them from 1 September 2027. Odoo is an approved platform: compliance happens directly in your Invoicing app. This guide is for companies subject to the French reform, including French subsidiaries of foreign groups.

THE REFORM IN BRIEF

An electronic invoice
is not a PDF.

Under the French reform, an electronic invoice is produced in a structured, machine-readable format (Factur-X, UBL or CII). It contains mandatory information, including the customer’s SIREN number (the French company identification number), and it is transmitted through an approved platform (PA, formerly “PDP”) registered with the French tax authorities. A PDF sent by email is no longer enough.

Sales that do not go through this channel, such as sales to consumers (B2C) or transactions with foreign customers, are not exempt: their data must be reported to the French tax authorities. This is e-reporting.

Good news for Odoo users: the publisher is officially an approved platform. No third-party platform to subscribe to and no connector to maintain. Odoo transmits your invoices, receives your suppliers’ invoices as drafts in your purchase journal, handles e-reporting and registers you on Peppol, the European invoice exchange network. The “France - E-Invoicing (Approved Platform)” module is available in both Community and Enterprise.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The questions we are asked
before getting started.

Is Odoo an approved platform for French e-invoicing?

Yes. Odoo is officially an approved platform (formerly “PDP”). It transmits your invoices over the French e-invoicing network, receives your suppliers’ invoices and handles e-reporting, with no third-party platform to subscribe to.

Is my Odoo version compatible with French e-invoicing?

Odoo 18 and 19 have been natively compatible since June 2026, and Odoo 17 through a backport released at the end of July 2026 (update the database, then activate the module). Odoo 16 and earlier versions are not: you need to upgrade, or appoint a third-party approved platform in the meantime.

When must an SME issue electronic invoices in France?

On 1 September 2027 for SMEs, small businesses and micro-enterprises. Receiving them, however, has been mandatory for all companies since 1 September 2026.

Does e-invoicing work with Odoo Community?

Yes. The “France - E-Invoicing (Approved Platform)” module (technical name l10n_fr_pdp) is available in both Community and Enterprise.

What is e-reporting?

It is the reporting to the French tax authorities of sales data that does not go through e-invoicing between French companies: sales to consumers (B2C), transactions with foreign parties, B2B invoices paid in cash. Odoo sends this data automatically every ten days.

What should be checked before activating e-invoicing in Odoo?

Above all, your customer and supplier records: each invoice is routed using the recipient’s SIREN number. If the SIREN is missing or wrong, the invoice never arrives. Merge duplicates, check your taxes, and make sure the company’s legal representative is available for the activation.
